Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

It was reported that a court ruling has made it possible to have actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt be granted joint custody over their children.

Since their detrimental split in 2016, the former couple has been in a custody battle for years over their five minor children: Pax (17), Zahara (16), Shiloh (14), and twins Vivienne and Knox (12). It was on May 26 that both parents were formally awarded joint custody of their five children.

The Judge’s Decision

According to a source of news singapore, “There was a significant change made in the custody agreements based on an extremely detailed decision made by the judge.”

“Brad was just trying to have more time with his kids – and it has been clear that Angie has done everything possible to prevent this.

“This trial lasted for several months and there were a f*** ton of witnesses, experts, therapists, and other people who have been with the kids and around them, and the decision was based on this.”

It has also been reported that Brad allegedly said that he was relieved because of the decision that he wishes to spend time with his children, he also had a 19-year old son named Maddox with Angelina.

Angelina Jolie’s Plea

The sources also reported that Angelina will file for a motion of reconsideration regarding the custody case as she believed that there were discrepancies in the way Judge John Ouderkirk administered the court proceedings.

The insider added: “Joint custody is not the issue that Angelina objects to, there were other issues of concern, but the court proceedings are closed and sealed.”

Prior to the court decision, Angelina and her legal counsel team claimed that the judge forbade her children to testify in the court.

A filing document sent to California’s Second District Court of Appeal stated: “Judge Ouderkirk denied Ms. Jolie a fair trial, improperly excluding her evidence relevant to the children’s health, safety, and welfare, evidence critical to making her case… They have failed to adequately consider a section of the California courts code, which says it is detrimental to the best interest of the child if custody is awarded to a person with a history of domestic violence.”

Angelina firmly believes that the judge should consider her minor children’s input as their experiences will affect the conclusion of the custody case but the judge refused.

Brad’s Camp Reaction

According to Brad’s lawyers, the proceedings turned out well and they believed that it was handled fairly.

In a counter-motion filed to the court, they said: “Ouderkirk has conducted an extensive proceeding over the past six months in a thorough, fair manner and reached a tentative ruling and order after hearing from experts and percipient witnesses. Angelina’s testimony lacked credibility in many important areas, and the existing custody order between the parties must be modified, per Mr. Pitt’s request, in the best interests of the children. The objections are causing grave harm upon the children, who will be further denied permanence and stability.”

A Warning for Jolie

The couple’s eldest child Maddox who is already an adult was exempted from the court ruling, however, his younger siblings had to follow a strict schedule ordered by the court that governs which days they have to spend with each parent.

This also means that if Angelina Jolie refused to abide by the court ruling, her custody of her children may be subjected to question.

The court advised Jolie, “If the minor children remain closed down to their father and depending on the circumstances surrounding this condition, it may result in a reduction of the time they spend with Jolie and may result in the Court ordering primary physical custody to Pitt.”
