Lego Lightsaber

The holiday season is approaching and many geeks like moi are expecting to receive some really awesome gifts this Christmas. Luckily, our dear friends from The LEGO Group are releasing some exciting new treats this earlier before the holiday month kick-off.

Time to geek out because LEGO is continuing to partner with Lucasfilm Ltd. to provide us with Star Wars Lego merchandises.

In this Singapore news, we are elaborating on this Lego Star Wars promotion.

A Collectible Gift

If you are planning to buy the Lego 75313 UCS AT-AT, you are in for a treat because it comes with the Lego 40482 Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber as a bundled gift.

The box itself is worth keeping as memorabilia and unboxing them could be disappointing.

The lightsaber itself has 173 pieces, the collection can be compared to the Lego 6346098 which is Yoda’s Lightsaber with 140 pieces. The latter itself was launched in concurrence with the Lego 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina back in 2020.

Nonetheless, this time, the promo gift is presented with a much more attractive box.

Packaging

According to Lego China, they have revealed more information regarding the availability of LEGO Star Wars 40483 Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber, and also an official first look of its packaging.

According to the report, the promo gift will come in The LEGO Group’s 18+ packaging with a black color, which is very different from last year’s 5006290 Yoda’s Lightsaber. That exclusive freebie was available to first few buyers of 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina, which arrived with its yellow-colored box which also were used for other GWPs along with 5006293 Chariot.

Costs

LEGO China stated that the 40483 Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber will come in free if customers purchase the new 75313 AT-AT which will be launching on November 26 and is available for the following prices, £749.99 / $799.99 / €799.99.

The buildable handle itself costs ¥229 or approximately £26 / $36 / €31, however, it is highly unlikely that it will be purchasable as a separate piece.

We thought that Star Wars enthusiasts would easily spend US$799.99 (S$1,078) just to grab this coveted promo and then settle with the overall costs.

Ultimately, stocks of Luke’s (or Rey’s or Anakin’s, or which one you like) lightsaber will be purchasable until December 25, or reasonably while the supplies will last – which, as we know probably will be sold out fast just like last year’s Yoda’s Lightsaber, and may be run out less than a month in most territories.

Logistical Concerns

Let’s just hope that the LEGO company will accurately measure the logistical concerns of this promotion, as the LEGO Star Wars set 75313 AT-AT will be better from its own cardboard packaging; and there is no place to include a copy of the promotional item, with the exception of removing one or two of its side protectors to guarantee that the items will arrive in good quality.

If that’s the case, it is much more advisable to the manufacturers to ship the small promotional items separately to ensure that the products and the promotional item will come in good condition.

LEGO China never mentioned, however, any limitations regarding the offer to the members of the LEGO loyalty program. Which is the reason why we are not receiving the little yellow box version because it looks a little cheesy.

Final Words

In the meantime, those who will be purchasing the 75313 AT-AT will be enjoying the new 40483 Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber as a freebie and a part of the Star Wars LEGO set.

As for now, we know for sure that Lego has mastered the art of successful marketing and getting more sales on the launch day and we can assume that more Lego lightsabers will come our way.
