Hazard extra-time goal sends 10-man Real Madrid through

As Real Madrid’s La Liga leaders mounted a stunning comeback against Elche with 10 men, Eden Hazard scored a refreshing goal in eight months.

Elche’s Gonzalo Verdu handed them the advantage in the 103rd minute, just after Marcelo was sent out, and Real Madrid required extra time in order to win a final score of 2-1.

Isco headed in Dani Ceballos’ shot for Madrid, but Hazard beat the keeper and finished in the 115th minute to give them the lead back. Atletico Madrid, Rayo Vallecano and Mallorca will join Real Betis in the quarterfinals. Cadiz and Valencia are out. Athletic Bilbao takes on Barcelona later in the day.

A little extra is all they need

At the Estadio Martinez Valero, Real Madrid overcame a scare to reach the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey.
